We've expanded our selection of marginal water plants to include different classifications of aquatic plants to create a healthy ecosystem. Oxygenators, Floaters, Lilies, and Marginal Aquatic plants, all contribute to a healthy ecosystems of your water garden.
Oxygenators grow entirely below the surface of the water and provide the perfect environment for fish to thrive by releasing necessary oxygen. They should be planted at the rate of one for each two square feet of surface area. Every pond should include oxygenating plants. Some of the most popular are Red Rotala, Hornwort, and Small Pennywort.
Floating Aquatic Plants are some of the most beautiful water plants and play a vital role in any pond. Providing nourishment and shade for fish, promoting a balanced ecosystem, and increasing natural filtration, floaters are a must in any water garden! The most popular floaters are Water Hyacinth and Water Lettuce.
Deep Water Plants: Lilies- Water lilies are what you think of when you think of a water garden, and no water garden is complete without them. Water lilies provide nourishment and shade for fish, attract butterflies, promote a balanced ecosystem, and are bee friendly. Their waxy lily-pad leaves share space with your floaters.
Marginal Water Plants are a broad category of plants that live at the edge of a pond or water feature. Marginal plants provide color and interest to your pond as well as contribute to the healthy balance of your pond’s eco-system by providing food for fish. Many species also attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Tropical plants, such as Canna Lilies, Cypress, and Colocasia, as well as hardy varieties such as Water Iris, Sweet Flag, Juncus, and Rush, provide different textures and heights to the pond edges.
