Fresh Cut Flowers
The best time of year at the farm market is when fresh-cut flowers are abundant! In late spring we plant the field behind the market full of flowers for cutting; from sunflowers to zinnias, and statice to ageratum, each handtied bouquet is unique and fresh. Fresh-cut flowers will be available June – September, weather depending. Call for availability.
Care Instructions:
The better you care for your flowers, the longer they will last. When you get your flowers home give them a fresh cut with sharp scissors. Fill a vase with cool water. You don’t need store bought cut-flower food to maintain the life of your flowers; you just need to add a little acid and a little sugar!
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of sugar into the water.
- OR, add a ¼ cup lemon-lime soda (i.e. Sprite or sierra mist). Do not use a cola, and do not use a diet soda
- Keep the flowers in a cool place if possible. The cooler the air, the greater the longevity. Change the water daily, and give a fresh cut as needed.
